Well, its been 9 months since our move to Moab, and I can finally say that our house is starting to feel more like a home. More like us. We still have projects and plans, but it is starting to take shape. And that makes me excited. This is our 5th home in the last 10 years. (and Im not moving again!)

To give you a bit of background on this… my dear friend Chelsey (who lives in Fairbanks, Alaska!) and I had been texting eachother- and bouncing ideas off each other. (It is such fun to have a friend to randomly text a wall gallery to!) She had the wonderful idea to put together a blog post about how we display our photos!

For me, I would love to live in one of those wonderful homes you’d see in a Pottery Barn catalog. Everything perfectly decorated. But… thats just not real life. At least, not for me. I’m usually on a budget, and saving for the next big project. ;)  Not to mention, in order to get to a Target, Walmart or craft store, I have to drive an hour and a half each way. That doesnt make it too easy to ‘run to the store’ and pick something up. Luckily, over the last several years I have collected, thrifted and decorated for our homes. That meant I did have some things to chose from.

I have a lot of wall space- and that meant a blank canvas! Especially this wall. Its LONG. I knew I had to go big! So I chose three 30×40 frames. To put that into perpective, this is almost as tall as my 6 year old!  I purchased the frames from Ikea  for $25 each. It may feel intimidating to go this large, but as you can see- this really makes a statement!

Here is my second wall gallery. The space isnt nearly as large, but it felt kind of weird hanging a random 8×10. Plus, with 3 kiddos, how could I chose just one? So, I decided to rummage through all my frames and put together a collage. After a quick white coat of spray paint, they were all ready. I laid the frames out on the floor and took a photo. Using the photo as my guide, I started hanging them up. There are so many wonderful methods of hanging gallery photos out there, but I was in a time crunch. So, I just hammered in the general area and hoped for the best. I would definently not do that on every gallery, but I wanted this to be a little asymmetrical / uneven. And I only ended up with a few extra nail holes. ;)

Be sure to pop on over to Chelsey’s amazing blog and see her awesome wall gallery!! You can find it here!

I must admit, the day we took these- chaos ensued.

There were 9 children. (7 and under) and 2 wet, stinky dogs. We used ATVs and UTVs to pack the kids / props down a mountain.

But how I love these photos. And how grateful I am for wonderful new friends here.

We made it!! | Moab Portrait Photographer

Friday, June 29th, 2012

Well, that was quite the break, wasnt it?! I cant believe it- we are here!

Last October we decided to make a huge life change. Our little family decided to leave the one place my children and I have ever called home, Salt Lake City (the Mr has lived in other places). We decided to put our home up for sale and head south to Moab. Within 8 weeks, we were packing boxes and heading south. It was nothing short of crazy! But here we are… settled (but not 100% unpacked!) and loving life! Moab is such an incredible place… and we have had some pretty amazing adventures! (Which are coming up!)

Today, I decided to document my day.  Ava is 18 months. Busy, and always looking for an adventure. A counter to climb, wipes to pull out of the case… or full cups of water to dump over. She is hardly still. Thats what I love so much about her. She is truly her own little person. I also know how quickly this stage passes. When my older girls were this age, I thought it would never pass. I thought I’d never be able to take a shower in peace.  Now, I know. I know that in a blink of an eye she will be entering the 3rd grade. Her hands will grow, and no longer want to hold mine. These are the things I want to hold on to. This is what makes each day a treasure.
