remember when i used to blog?

Monday, October 3rd, 2011

I do. Its been a long, long time. And Im not just talking about this blog. I remember when the whole concept of a blog came out. I loved it. I blogged religiously. It wasnt only a photography blog. It was a blog about life. Our little family’s adventures, photography… and just whatever I felt like. Then time passed. I created a separate photography blog… I couldnt keep up on 2. And so I stopped blogging on my little ‘personal’ blog. I felt like I ‘had’ to keep up on my photography blog. But I kept falling behind. Then, even worse… I didnt know what to say anymore. Sure, I wanted to sound ‘professional’ – I mean, after all- this is my ‘business’ blog, right? But it felt so boring just saying how much I loved ____’s session. And how we had a great time. I mean… I have a great time on every shoot. And, if it was boring for me to write- I imagined how it must be to read. Then came a very difficult pregnancy, a sweet baby… juggling life with three kiddos… So I just sort of stopped blogging.

But during the quiet moments of this year (which usually come during 3 am feedings…. and yes. at 8 1/2 months- there are STILL 3 am feedings each night) I thought back to the time I just loved blogging about anything. Not just my sessions, but life. Now Im sure- since this blog has been on the back burner for so long- my mom and dad are the only ones that read it. (Hi Mom! Hi Dad!) but I think Im going to try and just blog. Like I did before. Sure, my photography will still be posted, but I also want to write about… whatever! (But, I must say… I dont feel like I have a lot of interesting things to say. Im just an ordinary girl… living an ordinary life) We’ll see how it goes, right? And maybe, just maybe- this will push me to photograph the ordinary a little more. ;-)

So… I will leave you with one of my latest sessions. This darling family is hoping and praying to adopt another sweet one into their family. The mom, Genesis, and I went to high school together… though we didnt really know eachother until later on. (thanks to facebook!) Genesis and Jason really are great parents- and just wonderful people. Im hoping and praying that their cute little family can grow soon too! :)

Meet one of my best friends, Jennie and her cute family. We were laughing the whole time. I mean, rolling on the floor, gut wrenching laughing. It was a good reminder to THINK before I speak… because sometimes you just dont realize how things can come out the WRONG way!! ;)

Lately, I have been thinking about the many ways I have been blessed. The first thing that comes to mind is my wonderful family and friends. Friends here locally, and even friends I have made through photography that live all over the world. You all have influenced me, encouraged me, and touched my life in ways you may not realize. I love you all! :)

having two blogs is a funny thing… one is neglected while the other is full of posts… so, my little blog, here’s some lovin. just for you. ;)

just got back from learning how to shoot at night with the uber talented dustin izatt! what an incredible time!!! i cant believe how much i learned- and it only confirmed how much i love flash and other fun methods of lighting. this was my first time shooting at night, and i just love it. i felt like a sponge and soaked up every bit. (even though i may be a slow-absorbing sponge at times!) here are just a few…
